Privacy policy

What this website collects, what we do with it, and what we never do with it.

The short version

This website collects nothing about you unless you type it into the contact form and press send. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent information to anyone, and we do not use what you send us for anything other than answering you.

What the contact form collects

The form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, the subject you need help with, and your message. Submissions are delivered to us by email through Web3Forms, a third-party form relay, which passes the message to jeff@hocketttax.com under its own privacy terms. We keep the email as long as we need it to respond and to maintain our business records.

Please do not put Social Security numbers, tax documents or bank details in the form. Send those through the secure client portal, which is built for it.

The client portal

Our client portal is operated by TaxDome. Documents and messages you place there are held under TaxDome’s own security and privacy terms as well as ours. The portal is the correct place for anything sensitive.

Client tax information

Information you give us as a client, in order for us to prepare or advise on a return, is confidential. Tax professionals are also bound by federal rules governing the use and disclosure of tax return information, including Internal Revenue Code section 7216. In plain terms: we do not disclose your tax information to anyone outside the firm except as you direct us or as the law requires.

Text messages (SMS)

Hockett Tax appointment texts. If you call us and agree to receive a text, we send the message you asked for, such as a one-time link to book your appointment, and occasional follow-up about your request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help, or call (623) 257-3048.

Mobile opt-in information, including phone numbers and SMS consent, will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes. We use it only to send the messages you asked for. We do not sell, rent or share your phone number or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or lead-generation purposes.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own. It does load a measurement pixel from OpenAI, which we use to understand whether our advertising on OpenAI’s platforms leads to appointments. The pixel tells OpenAI which pages you visit and when you book an appointment through our scheduling tool, and OpenAI may set cookies or similar identifiers to do that; that data is handled under OpenAI’s privacy terms. Appointment booking opens Calendly, our scheduling provider, on this page, and anything you enter there is subject to Calendly’s privacy terms. The site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers when a page loads; that request is subject to Google’s privacy terms.

Links to other sites

Pages here link out to our scheduling tool, our client portal, our resolution practice and our social profiles. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else’s site under their policies, not ours.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep. Write to jeff@hocketttax.com or call (623) 257-3048. Records we are legally obliged to retain — copies of filed returns, for example — we have to keep.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date below.
