IRS resolution

If you owe, if you have not filed in years, or if a letter has arrived that you have not opened, this is fixable. It is also the part of the practice we are most often thanked for.

What an Enrolled Agent can do for you

An Enrolled Agent is licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS in every state — audits, collections and appeals. Jeff has been preparing taxes since 1991, has held the Enrolled Agent credential since 2019, and is a member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. Practically, it means you stop being the one on the phone with the IRS.

  • Unfiled returns — getting current, often several years at once
  • Payment plans for a balance you cannot clear at once
  • Penalty relief — First-Time Abate on earlier periods, which has to be requested and which many people who qualify never claim, and the Automatic Exemption from Penalty the IRS is moving to from the 2025 tax year onward
  • Offers in compromise, where settling for less than the full balance is genuinely available
  • Audit representation — we deal with the examiner, not you
  • Liens and levies, including wage garnishment

A word about offers in compromise. The radio ads promising pennies on the dollar are selling something. Some people genuinely qualify and the relief is life-changing; many do not, and the honest answer saves them thousands in fees. We will tell you which you are before you pay us anything.

Where this work lives

Our resolution practice runs under its own name, Fix IRS Issues — same people, same office, a separate door because the work is different from annual tax preparation. You can start there or start here; it reaches us either way.

Stopping it from happening again

Once you are current, tax monitoring is the thing that keeps you there. It watches your IRS transcripts for balances, mismatches and notice codes, which often surface before a letter lands.

Not sure where you fit?

Tell us what your return looks like and we will tell you which membership covers it — no obligation.

FAQ

Common questions

I have not filed in several years. Am I in trouble?

You are in a situation with a known process attached to it, which is a different thing. Getting current voluntarily is materially better than being found, and it is usually the first step toward any payment plan or offer.

Can you stop a wage garnishment?

Often, yes — but time matters a great deal once a levy is in motion. Call rather than email if that is where you are.

Do I qualify for an offer in compromise?

It depends on your income, expenses, assets and the size of the balance. We look at the same figures the IRS will and give you an honest read before you commit to anything.
